What is bagasse? I've only heard of sugarcane. What exactly is bagasse?
Sugarcane is one of the main raw materials for sugar production. After the sugar is extracted, about 50% of the remaining bagasse can be used for papermaking. However, some of the sugarcane pith (pith cells) lacks interweaving strength and needs to be removed before pulping. Bagasse fibers are approximately 0.65–2.17 mm in length and 21–28 μm in width. Although their fiber morphology is not as good as that of wood or bamboo, it is slightly better than that of rice straw and wheat straw fibers. This pulp can be mixed with some wood pulp to produce offset printing paper, cement bag paper, and other products.
The present invention relates to a substance prepared by fermenting sugar production waste residue, as well as its preparation method and application. This substance contains a large number of beneficial bacteria and active substances, including water-soluble humic acid (≥14%) and crude protein (≥6.5%). This product has a significant effect on improving water fertility. It can purify water, promote algae growth, improve and activate water sediment, increase dissolved oxygen in water, and reduce diseases among fish, shrimp, crabs, and shellfish. The method uses bagasse as the main raw material, with wheat, peanut cake, a small amount of chemical fertilizers, and minerals as auxiliary raw materials, and adds a specific proportion of an aqueous solution of bacterial flora. During the fermentation process, the temperature in the fermentation room is controlled below 75°C. After drying below 75°C, the product is crushed into a 100–200 mesh powder, giving it a high content and activity of water-soluble humic acid.
Bagasse can also be used in the production of edible fungi. Since bagasse is acidic, an appropriate amount of lime and gypsum can be added to raise its alkalinity. In addition, high-nitrogen auxiliary materials such as bran can also be added.
The chewed remnants of sugarcane left after chewing are the vascular bundles of the sugarcane plant.
